We are integrating design thinking throughout the curriculum. For example, we are developing a Workshop Makerspace that will serve students beginning in Kindergarten. The space focuses on process over product and introduces students to different aspects of the design process early. We also use the process in different ways in several intensive, project-based courses, such as Urban Research and Design in which students design urban development projects in the city, and Research Science, in which students prototype designs related to different challenges, such as urban windmills. We have worked with several partners and interweave community-based learning with design thinking in innovative ways.
