As one of the central pillars of the Nueva School, design thinking spans all of our curricula. Five, full-time engineers on our faculty teach students of all ages how to effectively translate their ideas into reality. Students learn the skills and mind-sets of the design-thinking process, such as how to identify situations in which they can make the world better. In addition, expansive laboratories provide students with an inspirational space and the tools (laser cutter, 3-D printers, wood shop, etc.) to design, research, and collaborate. Students have opportunities to identify needs and test them, to generate ideas and build quick prototypes to get feedback, and to invent business models that will help them convey their ideas to the world.
