Over the past several years, the Bush School has been working to integrate design thinking into its middle-school curriculum. In English class, students design for a character from literature, discuss the writing process using design-thinking terminology, and participate in experiential elective offerings based around design thinking. We have trained teachers through summer workshops, and they in turn have trained colleagues and co-leaders. The upper school offers a weeklong design-thinking course in the spring, and this year organized an all-class challenge for the freshman retreat.
