MVIFI – Mount Vernon Institute for Innovation

Mount Vernon is a school of inquiry, innovation, and impact. Since 2010, we have practiced and developed the DEEP design-thinking methodology—discover, empathize, experiment, and produce—as a riff on the Stanford d.School process. We purposefully infuse DEEP throughout our PS-12 curriculum, and we engage students and faculty in real-world, people-centered problem-solving. As an outreach and extension, we operate the Mount Vernon Institute for Innovation, an R&D lab and transformation design studio. We share thought and action leadership. We host dynamic learning events. We design innovative educational programs. And we consult with schools and organizations working for their own transformation and innovation. Through all of the work we do, we infuse design thinking principles and maintain a people-centered approach.
