Design thinking is the foundation of our 9th grade social studies course Global Perspectives in the 21st Century. Teachers use design thinking to develop and revise curriculum and students use design thinking to develop more generative and expansive ideas in their studies of human experience. Design thinking is also integral to our service learning program and several of our social studies and science electives, some of which are taught in our new Innovation Lab. In our middle school, design thinking is also integrated into the curriculum across disciplines. Most notably, it is the cornerstone of the 7th grade course Outside the Box where it is a tool for creativity and problem-solving.
